Hexion Specialty Chemicals Picked by
Universal
Forest Products to Offer Greater
Fire Performance in Universal’s
Special
OPEN JOIST® Product
COLUMBUS – (February 6, 2008) – Hexion Specialty
Chemicals, Inc. today announced that Universal Forest Products
has specified Hexion’s HexiTherm™ Adhesives
for its OPEN JOIST® series of products.
HexiTherm is the brand name for Hexion’s family
of adhesive technologies designed to offer the ultimate
in heat performance for today’s engineered wood applications.
Universal will use HexiTherm Adhesives in end joints for
its OPEN JOIST® all-wood floor joists to maximize heat
resistance and fire performance.

Open Joist is an open-web
floor truss assembled through a unique process that utilizes
finger joinery and water-resistant structural adhesives
instead of metal plates. The superior strength and competitive
cost make it a natural choice for residential and commercial
construction projects.
