HexiTherm™ Adhesives for Finger-jointed Studs

Hexion offers a variety of options for finger-jointed stud producers who want the security, and market acceptance, of a glue system that has the highest Heat Resistant Adhesive (HRA) standard.

Two of our melamine adhesives — MR-84A/M-605LY and MR-84A/M-610LY — have passed test Method A and been certified for unrestricted use in fire-rated finger-jointed stud applications. They were the first two adhesives under the new standards adopted by the American Lumber Standard Committee (ALSC) to be certified HRA for use with any lumber species, grade or finger joint geometry – without any additional testing.

Two phenol-resorcinol-formaldehyde (PRF) adhesive systems from Hexion — AG-5635/LQ-100 and AG-5675/FM-6310L — have also passed Method A of the AWC’s qualification procedure, certifying them for unrestricted use.

Hexion also offers a radio frequency curable melamine-resorcinol-formaldehyde (MRF) system, MF-3L/M610LY, that has been certified as an HRA per Method A testing.

Hexion does not research or sell Polyvinyl Acetate (PVAc) or Polyurethane (PUR) adhesives for any structural engineered lumber applications. (For an in-depth discussion of Hexion’s position on non-thermosetting adhesive systems for structural markets, click here.)
